Angola earned $6.5 billion between January and September this year from diamond revenue including taxes and royalties.
Macauhub reports that the southern African country’s diamond industry had registered a remarkable improvement during the period under review.
The country takes over from China next month as the Kimberley Process chair.
The sale of diamonds mined in Angola leaped 18 percent in the first half of the year, at an average price of $155 per carat.
Diamond production also reached 4.26 million carats, an increase of 4 percent over the same period last year.
The United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and Israel were the main destinations of the diamonds mined in Angola, Macauhub reports.
Angola also recently resumed diamond cutting and polishing, at a unit in Luanda.
It was planning to build a second unit in Lobito, Benguela province.
