Norilsk Nickel announces the launch of a grant competition

16 september 2022

Norilsk Nickel announced the launch of a competition for social projects being part of the World of New Opportunities charity program. Non-profit organizations, state and municipal institutions, as well as corporate volunteers of the company's enterprises can apply for grants from 100,000 rubles up to 6.5 million rubles to support their socially beneficial initiatives. The total grant fund of the competition is 155 million rubles. The project implementation geography includes Norilsk and the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenetsky municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Monchegorsk and the Pechenga District of the Murmansk Province, Chita and the Gazimuro-Zavodsky District of the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Traditionally, the competition will have nine nominations that cover different areas of public life: the development of the volunteer movement and social support for the most vulnerable segments of the population; the introduction of new methods and technologies for working with children, adolescents and youth; the improvement and reconstruction of public spaces; the preservation and revival of cultural heritage and promotion of a healthy lifestyle; the formation of an environmental culture, improving the quality of services of non-profit organizations.

“Within the competition of social projects for 2022–2023 we recommend that participants develop regional partnerships, focus on openness and transparency in their activities and evaluate their effectiveness, as well as introduce monetization tools. For the company, projects that improve the quality of life of people on the territory, create sustainable changes and support leaders of change in the local community are important and significant,” said Irina Zhuykova, Head of the Social Policy Department at Norilsk Nickel.

From 2020, the submission of applications for the competition is carried out through an online platform. Thanks to the feedback from the participants of the competition, certain functions and capabilities of the online platform have been finalized and improved - the platform interface will allow you to quickly deal with the submission of an application. For the convenience of participants, a video instruction on filling out an application for the competition, as well as methodological materials, is posted on the platform in their personal account. The already traditional training regional seminars will be supplemented by the opportunity to receive online and offline consultations from regional experts - participants in the NPO Accelerator project. Residents of remote villages of the Taimyr Peninsula will have the opportunity to take part in face-to-face seminars and on-site workshops on social design and project management from competition experts.

Applications for the competition are accepted until November 1, and the results will be summed up and published on December 23, 2022.

The social project competition, aimed at supporting public initiatives and creating conditions for sustainable development, is an important component of the World of New Opportunities charity program, which has been implemented by Norilsk Nickel since 2014. Over the years, the competition has received 2,885 applications, of which 749 projects worth RUB 822.5 million were approved and received support from the company.
