Rosatom to help Novatek to reduce its carbon footprint in the Arctic
The corresponding memorandum was signed on the first day of the Russian Energy Week by Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev and Novatek Chairman of the Management Board Leonid Mikhelson, arctic-russia.ru writes.
The document provides for the acquisition by Novatek Group enterprises, in particular, by a complex for fractionation and transshipment of stable gas condensate in the port of Ust-Luga, of electricity generated at Rosatom wind farms.
The purchase of "green" electricity, as noted in the memorandum, will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of Novatek products, following the requirements of international standards.
In addition, the parties intend to cooperate in the field of wind energy development in the difficult conditions of the Arctic.
The memorandum also provides for an assessment of the possibility of implementing Rosatom's technical solutions in the production of LNG and low-carbon hydrogen, ammonia, generation and storage of electricity.
