Preservation of the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic to be discussed at the summit in Moscow

The Summit of Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic on November 2 in Moscow is dedicated to discussing projects and initiatives to preserve their languages, cultural heritage and lifestyle, as well as issues of their socio-economic development. This, according to TASS, was stated by the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Chairman of the Committee of senior officials of the Arctic Council Nikolai Korchunov.
"The event will consider a range of the most pressing issues for the indigenous peoples of the North, including relevant projects and initiatives to preserve the languages, cultural heritage and lifestyle of indigenous peoples," he said.
According to Korchunov, the summit will also focus on the possibilities of the secondary vocational education system in training personnel for the preservation of languages, cultural heritage and traditional economic activities of the peoples of the Arctic, the use of digital technologies and new media in support of indigenous languages, regional projects and ethnocultural initiatives of indigenous peoples.
"I would like to mention the planned meetings and their topics separately. We are talking about the issues of socio-economic development of indigenous peoples of the North of Siberia and the Far East, the development of the potential of the traditional economy, modernization of life support systems, cross-border cooperation of small peoples," the diplomat said.
He also added that a discussion is planned on the priority areas of the program of state support for the traditional economic activities of indigenous minorities of the Russian Federation.
