The development of Russia's large-scale projects in the Arctic and Antarctic will be the focus of attention of the participants of the POLAR 2023 conference, which will be held on May 24 in St. Petersburg.
"The key theme of the event will be adaptation to climate change in the Arctic. Experts will assess the readiness of the infrastructure and fleet for the development of navigation in the Arctic seas, propose the most effective steps for the development of safe, efficient and economically justified navigation along the Northern Sea Route and talk about projects related to the control of the environmental situation in the waters of the Northern Sea Route," the press service of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute reported.
The conference will also present forecasts on the organization of early postings and year-round navigation on the Northern Sea Route, the first results of the expedition "North Pole-41" and the possibilities of new research.
In addition, experts will talk about the state of the cryolithozone on the territory of the Russian Federation and the creation of a national permafrost monitoring system.
POLAR 2023 will bring together representatives of federal government agencies, big business and science specializing in work in polar latitudes.
