Gazprom Neft has been able to produce more than 25 million tons of oil during almost 10 years of operation of the Prirazlomnoye field in the Barents Sea, the company reports.
The Prirazlomnoye oil field is the first and so far the only offshore field in the Arctic in Russia where commercial oil production is underway. It is located in the southeastern part of the Barents Sea, 60 km from the coast. Recoverable reserves amount to 79 million tons. Industrial development started in December 2013.
Prirazlomnoye is the first and only field on the Russian Arctic shelf where the unique Arctic Oil (ARCO) oil is produced.
An offshore ice-resistant platform was specifically designed for the development of the field, which performs all technological operations: drilling, extraction, storage of oil, preparation and shipment of finished product. In 2023, two high-tech wells were drilled at Prirazlomnaya. During construction, records were set for the index of complexity of directional drilling, the length of the well and the length of the horizontal part, TASS noted.
