Five gas carriers for Arctic LNG 2 to be built at the Zvezda plant

In 2024, the Zvezda Shipyard will put into operation five new gas carriers designed to transport LNG from the Arctic LNG 2 plant, according to Leonid Mikhelson, Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Novatek.

Initially, it was planned that these vessels would be ready for operation in 2023, the company's press service reports.

The new gas carriers have a cargo capacity of 172,600 cubic meters each. They are the initial part of the order for the construction of 15 tankers for Arctic LNG 2.

The pilot gas carrier of this series will be ordered by the state shipping company Sovcomflot, and the remaining tankers will be transferred to Smart LNG, a joint venture of Sovcomflot and Novatek, pronedra.ru reports.
