A joint research expedition of Rosneft and the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra) has been launched, korabel.ru reported.
The seismic survey vessel Akademik Lazarev is being sent from Murmansk to the Arctic seas to perform geological research and test a new domestic broadband seismic survey technology developed by Innopraktika.
The vessel is equipped with seismic, as well as innovative domestic engineering and geophysical equipment, which allows to see the seismic section in several frequency ranges at once.
Thus, researchers receive the most complete geological information about the structure of the continental shelf in the hard-to-reach and still poorly studied regions of the Russian Arctic. The work is planned in the Barents and Laptev Seas and will be adjusted based on the actual ice situation.
On the part of Rosneft, the field work was organized by the corporate Arctic Scientific Center, on the part of Rosnedra – by the All-Russian Research Geological Petroleum Institute.
