300.000 people took part in the "Ticket to the Arctic" contest

More than 300.000 students and researchers from all over the country participated in the "Ticket to the Arctic" competition. The jury selected 30 finalists, 10 of whom will go on a scientific expedition to the Arctic region, the press service of the autonomous non-profit organization "Clean Arctic" reports.

Among the projects proposed by the finalists are the compilation of hydrographic and digital maps of the Arctic, the renewal of polar stations, the creation of special unmanned aerial vehicles for monitoring the environmental situation and underwater robots filtering microplastic particles, the development of an application for tourists that allows identifying local plant and animal species, and much more.

The competition is held by "Clean Arctic" within the framework of the federal project "Popularization of Science and Technology" with grant support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The project applications were evaluated by the experts of the competition - 12 scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences, institutes and universities. Applications were devoted to seven priority areas of Arctic exploration and development. The participants of the scientific expedition will visit nature reserves, operating production sites, key research centers and scientific and technological enterprises of partners.
