India and Russia have agreed to train Indian sailors for navigation in Arctic waters at the Admiral Nevelsky Maritime State University. This, according to TASS, was reported by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India.
The corresponding agreement was reached by the head of the department Sarbananda Sonoval at a meeting with the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov in Vladivostok. The ministers discussed cooperation between Russia and India in the use of the Northern Sea Route.
"India and Russia also agreed to prepare Indian sailors for navigation in polar and Arctic waters at the Admiral Nevelsky Maritime State University, which is equipped with appropriate simulators," the Indian ministry said in a press release.
Speaking about cooperation on the Eastern Economic Corridor, Sonoval recalled that India had offered to hold a workshop on the implementation of this transport project in Chennai in October. "We expect to attract interested persons who are engaged in trade and transportation of goods with potential, such as coking coal, oil, liquefied natural gas," the Indian minister said.
