More LNG to be produced in Yamal

02 october 2023

In October, the State Duma of the Russian Federation will hold the 2nd and 3rd readings and then adopt a bill that encourages the creation of new production facilities for the liquefaction of natural gas in the Arctic, sever-press.ru reports.

Among them are 36 Rosneft fields in Yamal, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. They are located above 67 degrees north latitude and are removed from Gazprom's unified gas transportation system.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that adding new gas fields for LNG exports would allow an increase in the annual production of liquefied natural gas to 100 million tons within seven years.

For his part, Leonid Mikhelson, the head of Novatek, said that Yamal LNG will not stop the production process for repairs for several years.
