Researchers of the Northern Fleet and the Russian Geographical Society have discovered an unknown fjord in the northern part of the Kara Sea - near Ushakov Island, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported.
In place of the glacier marked on the maps, there is now sea with a depth of up to 15-17 meters.
"Hydrographers believe that it should be constantly monitored. If the fjord does not collapse for a long time, it will be assigned the status of a new geographical object," the message says.
