A new Russian drug based on Omega-3 to be tested in the Arctic

17 october 2023

Scientists want to investigate the effect of an increased concentration of substances on the body of residents of the Far North.

Omega-3 is colloquially called fish oil. Scientifically speaking, these are polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are necessary for a person for normal development in childhood, maintaining immunity, protecting the cardiovascular system and other purposes.

The experiment will involve volunteers aged 20 to 50 years who will take capsules of a new Russian drug based on Omega-3 for two months. Scientists will check changes in the body in two groups of people: those who took and those who did not take the drug.

Before that, all participants in the experiment will have their indicators of muscle and fat components of the body, the work of the cardiovascular system, metabolism, respiration and others checked. And the same set of surveys will be carried out at the end of the experiment.

The researchers claim that the drug contains up to 60% Omega-3 fatty acids, which is twice as much as in traditional medicine. The study will help to obtain new scientific data on changes in biochemical parameters in residents of the far North, nia14.ru reports.
