A scientist from Yale University assessed the potential of the Northern Sea Route

23 october 2023

The construction of the Northern Sea Route, thanks to global warming and the widespread development of technology, is becoming more and more economically beneficial. This opinion was expressed by a visiting scientist at Yale University in the USA, Bian Yongzu.

According to him, despite the growing risks, sea routes still remain the most preferred method of cargo delivery, and the Northern Sea Route can become a key alternative to even cheaper routes.

"On the other hand, with the development of technology and the global increase in temperature, navigation along the Northern Sea Route is becoming more economical, and its period is longer. As a result, the construction of the Northern Sea Route is becoming more and more economically feasible, and not just a strategic alternative," Yunzu said. His words are quoted by www.osnmedia.ru.

The scientist emphasizes that the development of this sea route will give an impetus to the development of the Russian Far East, and Asian countries will be increasingly involved in the work on the northern trade infrastructure.
