Rosatom scientists have presented a new method for exploration of oil deposits on the Arctic shelf.
As noted by the Rosatom channel on Telegram, the method is based on the analysis of the isotopic composition of helium and other noble gases coming from the bowels of the earth into the bottom waters. This makes it possible to identify the most promising areas for additional exploration and further drilling of oil and gas wells.
"The technique developed by our scientists makes it possible to reduce the probability of erroneous drilling of wells by half. The technology we offer can provide high measurement accuracy, reduce the cost of expensive 3D seismics and allow us to focus efforts on the most promising areas. In addition, the method is as environmentally friendly as possible, does not require destructive interference in the environment and is applicable for mapping any shelf, not only in the Arctic," said Konstantin Vergazov, Director General of the Radium Institute.
