Nomadic kindergartens to be launched in the Arctic

Nomadic kindergartens will be open for children from families of small indigenous peoples of the Russian Arctic.

The kindergartens will be allowed to take in children of different ages, and the mode of operation will be based on the peculiarities of the life of nomads.

In other words, the kindergartens can change the mode of operation, including switching to round-the-clock operation, during the deer drive, the Parliamentary Newspaper reports.

The first nomadic kindergartens should start working on September 1, 2024. This system serves as an alternative to boarding schools, where children are sent for several months. All this time they are separated from their parents.

About 4,600 nomadic families currently live in Russia. About 6,500 children are being raised in these families, 2,200 of them are of preschool age.
