Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said that the tourist flow to Russian Far East and the Arctic increased significantly last year, TASS reports.
The number of tourists who stayed in hotels in the Far East and the Arctic zone over the 11 months of 2023 increased by 40% compared to the same period in 2022, the minister added, and the share of tourist trips to these regions in the total number of trips across Russia reached 8.6% .
“This is a very noticeable growth. At the same time, it is very important that new [hotel] rooms are being commissioned there, the occupancy of the existing room stock is increasing, and support measures are being implemented through the national tourism project,” continues Reshetnikov.
“Over the 11 months of last year, 1.8 million more people stayed in hotels than a year earlier... For context, across the country we have a growth of plus 20%, and there - plus 40%.”
