A joint venture between Rosatom and the Emirati company DP World plans to build a container ship for cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route, Vladimir Panov, Rosatom's special representative for Arctic development, told RIA Novosti.
In the autumn of 2023, the companies established the International Container Logistics joint venture to develop transit container transportation along the Northern Sea Route. It was reported that at the pilot stage, the joint venture will provide an annual transportation volume of up to 800,000 TEU.
The research on the parameters of the vessel has been completed, and the contract for its design is now being finalized. Preliminary arrangements for loading the vessel are already in place, Panov said.
