Northern Forum project office to be opened in Khanty-Mansiysk

12 february 2024

The project office of the Northern Forum, an international non-governmental organization of the northern regions, of which the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug was elected chairman for 2023-2025, will be opened in the capital of the region.

“In 2024, it is planned to create a project office in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. We hope that the office will be permanent even after the end of the region’s chairmanship in the Northern Forum,” TASS quotes the executive director of the Northern Forum Vladimir Vasiliev as saying.

The Northern Forum is an international non-governmental organization that brings together governors of the northern regions. It is seen as a tool for expanding non-political dialogue between the governors of the Arctic and northern regions of different countries, heads of municipalities and other organizations. Until 2013, the secretariat of the Northern Forum was located in Anchorage (Alaska), currently it is in Yakutsk.
