The Festival of Oriental Culture will take place in Salekhard

Representatives of cultural centers of China, India and Korea will take part in the Festival of Oriental Culture, which will be held for the first time in Salekhard, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District of Russia.

They will conduct open master classes in oriental languages, dancing, martial arts, cooking, vocals and yoga, TASS reports. The regional government also noted that as part of the festival, a family Korean film will be shown in the cinema hall of the district's National Cultural Center.

Olga Kholyavko, head of international activities at the external relations department of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, noted that the region is now engaged in expanding humanitarian and friendly ties with the countries of the East and Asia. The press service added that programs for studying culture, history and languages of the East are being introduced in schools in the district; the region has entered into an agreement with the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University, and has established cooperation with the leading center in this field - the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
