Participants of the working group on ensuring transport, logistics and socio-economic development of the Arctic proposed to create a standalone national project for the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, as reported by TASS.

“It is important to prioritize national projects in the Arctic, <...> to create a standalone national project for the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation,” noted Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis during the meeting of the working group.

The head of the Ministry of Eastern Development of the Russian Federation Alexey Chekunkov said: “We will prepare proposals for modernization of facilities to provide for an even more efficient development of the economy, social sector and national security in the Arctic, with an emphasis on technological development, social development, and the creation of conditions for life and work that would, for the first time in history, enable people to live comfortably and implement projects.”
