Rosatom together with the DP World logistics company from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aims to create a long-term program for the development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR), said Alexey Likhachev, head of the state corporation.
"The task is not to buy or sell something to our Arab partners. It is to make a large long-term program with the participation of DP World in the development of the NSR in terms of, first of all, container transportation. They are great masters in the container business, one of the leaders of the global market, and when we formed an alliance with them and organized a joint venture, we set strategic goals," Likhachev said.
According to him, it is necessary to involve DP World's competencies in terms of stevedoring activities, organization of port services, and in terms of influencing all logistics processes that exist in the world. These competencies need to be combined with the tasks of developing the global dimension of the Northern Sea Route.
In December, Rosatom State Corporation and DP World signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the global market. The agreement is aimed at improving the efficiency of international trade, primarily between the BRICS countries and their partners, as well as at creating seamless, sustainable global transport and logistics chains.
To achieve this goal, it is planned to create an international logistics operator to work in the Russian and international markets.
The agreement will be implemented on the basis of the supporting infrastructure of Russia, including the Northern Sea Route, Eurasia, the Middle East, Africa and South America, TASS reports.
