LNG supplies from Russia to China increased by 2% in the first quarter

In January - March 2024, China imported 1.648 million tons of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is 2% more than in the same period of 2023. Russia ranks fourth among the largest LNG suppliers to China, according to data published by the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China.

Russia supplied LNG to China in the amount of $1.06 billion, which is 19.7% less than in the first quarter of 2023. The three largest exporters of this fuel to China include Australia (6.3 million tons for $3.6 billion), Qatar (5.2 million tons for $3.1 billion) and Malaysia (2.3 million tons for $1.15 billion).

The cost of supplies via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline from Russia to China increased by 13% in the first quarter, to $2 billion. Thus, Russia was in second place in terms of pipeline gas supplied to China. Turkmenistan is in first place ($2.4 billion), Myanmar is in third place ($358 million). The Customs of the People's Republic of China has not indicated the volume of pipeline gas supplies since 2022, tass.ru reports.
