For the first time in the world, Russia created a hydrometeorological space system that will provide continuous monitoring of the Arctic region of the Earth and adjacent territories, the Arctic and Antarctic Institute reports.
"The Arctic-M satellites, alternating each other, receive the most important data on meteorological and heliogeophysical parameters over the entire vast expanse of the Arctic above 60 ° north latitude every 15 minutes. This closes the "gap" in the global coverage of the Earth with meteorological satellite imagery," the message says.
In future, the Arctic-M orbital group will include four spacecraft, according to mvestnik.ru.
