Russian Helicopters company delivers two new Mi-8MTV-1s for the Arctic

27 may 2024

Russian Helicopters Holding Company (a Rostec subsidiary) has delivered two new Mi-8MTV to YAMAL Airlines. The helicopters are capable of operating in extremely low temperatures up to minus 50 degrees Celsius in the Arctic zone, the Rostec press service reported.

The Mi-8MTV-1B manufactured at the Kazan Helicopter Plant can be equipped with additional fuel tanks to increase the flight range. This is especially important for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District featuring a surface area larger than the territory of France.

"Mi-8 helicopters are versatile, unpretentious and reliable machines. They can transport passengers and cargo, perform sanitary evacuation and rescue and special tasks in difficult Arctic conditions - for example, to monitor oil pipelines. The helicopter can also quickly deliver a team of specialists with repair equipment along with bulky cargoes weighing up to 4 tons on an external suspension," said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.
