Auction for titanium deposit in Murmansk region to be held in 2026

The auction for the titanium deposit named America in the Murmansk region is planned to be held in 2026, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation reported.

The development of the America deposit depends on the availability of infrastructure at the nearby Kolmozersky lithium field, where exploration will be completed in the near future and work on the construction of the necessary infrastructure will begin.

As of February 2024, America deposit's reserves amount to 894,000 tons of titanium dioxide. The project is currently at an early stage of exploration.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation stressed that Russia ranks second in the world in terms of titanium reserves. As of January 2023, the balance reserves of titanium oxide amounted to 580.3 million tons.

In 2024-2026, it is also planned to hold auctions for other titanium deposits: the South-East Gremyakha deposit in the Murmansk Region, the East site of the Tsentralnoye field in the Tambov Region, the Tarskoye field in the Omsk Region, the Verkhne-Chineisky site in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Antasheysky site in the Irkutsk Region, b-port.com reports.
