Six airfields to be upgraded in the Arctic

05 june 2024
The head of the Ministry of Regional Development Alexey Chekunkov announced plans to modernize six airfields in the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic zone with the help of a public-private partnership. This involves working with private investors.
According to Alexey Chekunkov, airports in six major cities are being considered: Magadan, Ulan-Ude, Chita, Murmansk, Vladivostok and Naryan-Mar. However, there are other airports where passenger traffic is not large enough to attract private investment. There are 26 airports in this group, such as Vorkuta, Anadyr and Dixon. Here, the modernization will be financed only by public funds. The third group of airports are special facilities that will be updated by increasing the rates for the organization of air navigation. These are small airfields such as Ust-Kuiga, Deputatsky and Belaya Gora.
