A NATO research vessel is embarking on a mission in the Arctic Ocean to assess the impact of climate change in the Arctic, the press service of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization reported.
"The research results will help NATO adapt to global warming and environmental changes in the Arctic. Aboard the NATO research vessel NRV Alliance, scientists will measure how the transformation of the Arctic affects the operation of sonars in the region. The collected data will help to adapt the technology for submarines, uninhabited underwater vehicles and other facilities operating in the rapidly changing conditions of the Arctic Ocean," the message says.
The research is conducted from June 8 to July 12, 2024.
