The Arctic test center for unmanned aircraft systems will be opened in Yamal, the press service of the governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District reported.
The main goal of the project is to develop an aircraft for Arctic conditions. To do this, aerial drones will be regularly tested with payloads and long distances.
The test center will include two sites: the main base and the mobile one. The first one will be organized on the runway in Salekhard. The mobile base will be deployed if necessary using cross-country vehicles. Drones are already being used in Yamal to detect wildfires, sever-press.ru reports.
