Arctic sea and river vessels to get a new model of propeller

16 july 2024

Specialists of the Saratov State Technical University have developed a new model of propeller which is particularly robust and reliable.

Its intended use is for modern engines of marine and river vessels in the Far North, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation reported.

The propeller blades are protected by a special coating that is most resistant to various types of damage – cavitation, corrosion, and mechanical.

The ministry notes that such a design will be in demand in the regions of the Far North, where, due to cold and ice, the blades wear out and deform especially quickly, ttelegraf.ru writes.
