The second Arctic-Regions Forum to be held in Arkhangelsk on August 8-9

The second Arctic Regions Forum will be held on August 8-9 in Arkhangelsk. It will be attended by up to 1,000 delegates from more than 40 regions of Russia.

The participants of the event will discuss the development of joint solutions to improve the efficiency of shipping and maritime logistics along the Northern Sea Route, construction and repair of the Arctic fleet, modernization of port infrastructure and staffing.

Special attention will be given on the construction of a new deep-water seaport area, provided for in the comprehensive development plan for the Arkhangelsk transport hub until 2035.

The participants will also focus on the renewal of the icebreaking fleet and ice-class vessels, the development of railway and road infrastructure, and improving the safety of navigation in the waters of the Arkhangelsk transport hub.

The Security in the Arctic-Priorities session will be devoted to the issues of using a single platform for digital services of the Northern Sea Route and cooperation mechanisms for data collection and analysis in the Arctic.

The first Arctic-Regions Forum that was held in April 2023 in Arkhangelsk gathered more than 500 Russian and foreign participants. The main discussion revolved around the issues of operational management and strategic development of the Northern Sea Route and adjacent waters, as well as topical aspects of shipbuilding and ship repair of the civil fleet operating in the Arctic, goarctic.ru reports.
