More than 880 investment projects are being implemented in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, said Deputy Prime Minister, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.
"A special economic zone has been created in the Arctic, within which more than 880 investment projects are being implemented today, 230 enterprises have already been put into operation, 16,000 jobs have been created," Trutnev said in an address to the participants of the Arctic - Regions Forum.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, quoted by TASS, Russia's turn to the East has brought with it new opportunities and new challenges for both the Arctic and the whole country.
"The need for accelerated development of domestic technologies, changing suppliers, changing logistics routes, and faster development of the Northern Sea Route has become obvious," Trutnev explained.
