Arctic LNG-2 increases gas processing to 28.7 million cubic meters

29 august 2024

In July, Arctic LNG-2 increased gas processing volumes to 28.7 million cubic meters, which is 3.5 times higher than in June.

The increase in processing was achieved at a time when the plant was preparing to start exporting LNG in the first decade of August. This month, three tankers were spotted near Arctic LNG-2, which were probably tasked with loading chilled methane, oilcapital.ru reports.

The project itself has been under US sanctions since November 2023. Last week, Washington added the vessels seen near the project to its SDN list, as well as Indian Ocean Speedstar Solutions, which, according to the United States, is also associated with it.

At the same time, the processing levels at the Arctic LNG plant are still lagging behind the design capacity of the first line of 6.6 million tons (or 9.1 billion cubic meters) LNG per year.
