Deep-water seaport location being chosen in Yakutia

03 september 2024

A location for the construction of a deep-water seaport is being determined in the Bulunsky district of Yakutia. The territory will be chosen taking into account the existing hydrographic conditions of the Khara Ulakh Bay, sufficient to receive ships.

The new facility will expand the boundaries of the Tiksi port on the coast of the Laptev Sea in the north of Yakutia.

The Tiksi port processes about 10,000-30,000 tons of cargo annually. The technical base is in poor condition, equipment wear is more than 90%.

Dredging has not been carried out here since the 1990s, as a result, the depth in the port has decreased from ten to five meters, ysia.ru reports.
