Gazprom is updating its hydrocarbon exploration program on the shelf of the Russian Federation until 2050, shifting the focus to the Kara Sea, Deputy head of the company's department Sergey Chuzhmarev said.
He spoke at a conference on shipbuilding and the development of high-tech equipment for the development of the Arctic and the shelf.
"Our current efforts are primarily focused on the development of the Kirinsky and Yuzhno-Kirinsky fields in the Sakhalin-3 project, which will become the basis for creation of the gas resource balance for the entire Far East," Chuzhmarev noted, calling the Sakhalin-2 project a landmark and having enormous potential.
According to him, the company intends to use it to meet gas demand of both the domestic market and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as for the development of the Sakhalin gas production center.
Gazprom uses the potential of domestic scientific organizations and industrial enterprises to develop deposits on the shelf, tass.ru reports.
