North-South transport corridor to be combined with Northern Sea Route

04 november 2024

After the launch of the North-South international transport corridor, the delivery time of goods from the Baltic to the Indian Ocean may be significantly reduced, amounting to 14 days.

This route will be more profitable in terms of the cost compared to others, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu told the political leadership of the United Arab Emirates.

The North-South corridor project involves the construction of a seamless transit railway to ports in the Persian Gulf on Iranian territory. In the future, it is planned to combine the North-South transport corridor with the Northern Sea Route, which will significantly increase the cargo load of these routes.

According to Sergei Shoigu, Russia regards the UAE as one of the key partners in this field, b-port.com reports.
