NSR digital ecosystem to be implemented in 2025

11 november 2024

In 2025, Russian authorities plan to put a digital ecosystem on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) into commercial operation, said Anton Lutsyk, head of the IT and digitalization Department of FSUE Atomflot, at the third conference "Arctic: the territory of digitalization".

The development of the project began in 2021.

According to the expert, the digital ecosystem of the Northern Sea Route consists of four elements. The first element is its core, a single platform of digital services, the second is an information fund of data, the third is on–board measurement systems and the fourth is the use of UAVs.

"Now, in fact, the choice of the optimal and safe route for the vessel is being made in a semi-automated mode. With the introduction of the digital ecosystem, thanks to digital services, this will be done automatically. But the final decision on the choice of the route remains with the captain," Lutsyk said.

He stressed that the digital ecosystem was originally created from domestic components, b-port.com reports.
