The United States, Canada and Finland have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in producing Arctic and polar icebreakers, said US National Security adviser Jake Sullivan.
"This partnership contributes to strengthening our national security and ensures peaceful and constructive cooperation in the polar and Arctic regions," the White House said in a statement.
The agreement involves the exchange of knowledge, information and resources to accelerate ship production, which, according to Jake Sullivan, will strengthen international regulation and security in the region, as well as create a sustainable and competitive shipbuilding industry.
The partnership was announced in July this year and is aimed at meeting national and global demand for these important marine assets, the adviser stressed, according to paluba.media.
