Russia intends to actively expand its icebreaking fleet for year-round navigation, which should strengthen its leadership in the Arctic, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.
"To ensure reliable year-round navigation, we will actively expand the icebreaking fleet, including the nuclear fleet, as well as build auxiliary and rescue vessels. This set of measures will strengthen our leadership in the Arctic," Mishustin said at the plenary session of the XVIII International Forum "Transport of Russia".
