The commissioning of the third universal nuclear icebreaker “Yakutia” (project 22220) is scheduled for December 28, said Vladimir Panov, special representative of the Rosatom State Corporation for Arctic Development.
The vessel is being built at the Baltic Shipyard for Atomflot. The icebreaker Yakutia was laid down in May 2020 and launched in November 2022.
Yakutia is the fourth (third in a series) nuclear-powered vessel of the 22220 project. Currently, three more similar vessels are being built at the Baltic Shipyard by order of Atomflot: “Chukotka”, “Leningrad” and “Stalingrad”, korabel.ru reports.
