Rosatom to revise NSR cargo traffic due to US sanctions

16 january 2025

US sanctions will lead to a revision of the cargo traffic growth schedule on the Northern Sea Route, said Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev.

"We now need to review, taking into account all the decisions made in the company, the schedule for the growth of turnover and cargo traffic on the Northern Sea Route. And based on the realities in which we work," he said.

The head of Rosatom positively assessed the work of private and state-owned companies that work on Arctic projects, overcoming difficulties. "Together with them, we are forming cargo transportation plans up to 2030 and for the following years," Likhachev said.

According to him, the pace of construction and commissioning of nuclear icebreakers and their technological maintenance vessels is tied to this development, flagman-news.ru reported.
