Senator, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Zhuravlev held a working meeting with the head of Norilsk Dmitry Karasev, where they discussed the progress on the comprehensive plan for the socio-economic development of the city.
The plan was initiated by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko 5 years ago. One of its key points was the housing renovation, since new housing had not been built in the city for 30 years, the senator reported on social networks.
Thanks to the comprehensive plan for the development of the city, long-standing problems have begun to be solved, including in the housing area. In the coming days, another house will be commissioned, four others are currently under construction, and this year, three more mid-rise buildings will be under construction.
Also, according to Zhuravlev, the environmental situation in the city is gradually improving. The Norilsk Nickel company launched the Sulfur Program, which allowed the enterprise to reduce emissions by almost 50%.
At the end of last year, an online air quality monitoring system was launched in Norilsk, which is available to city residents through an interface on the city administration website.
