The Canadian authorities do not intend to develop cooperation with Russia in the Arctic, said Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who recently took office.
"The appointment of the Arctic ambassador was partly to strengthen the relations that we have with allies or like-minded countries in the Arctic. Russia is by no means one of these countries," he said.
Carney made the corresponding statement against the background of the dispatch of the Canadian diplomatic mission to Alaska and Greenland, which was announced last year, iz.ru reports.
