Currently, the Russian icebreaking fleet has 43 icebreakers, including 8 nuclear-powered ships and by 2030 14 more icebreakers and 9 ice-class tankers will be built, said Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantin Pashkov.
According to him, the space complex for communication and remote sensing of the ice situation is also being developed and the port infrastructure is being modernized at the same time.
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is focused on the development of the Transarctic Transport Corridor, which provides for optimizing the routes of the Northern Sea Route, improving the efficiency of traffic flows and integrating railways into the infrastructure of the NSR port system.
