Russia has completed the formation of an orbital satellite constellation to calculate and establish stable radio communication in remote regions of the Arctic and on the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
According to Igor Shumakov, the head of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet), a complex of four Ionosphere-M spacecraft is also intended for monitoring the radiation environment and the Earth's magnetic field.
A practically self-sufficient domestic constellation of spacecraft has been created thanks to the joint efforts of the state corporation Roscosmos and Roshydromet.
