Norilsk to host Nornickel’s 2nd Arctic Construction Forum

28 september 2026

Nornickel’s 2nd Arctic Construction Forum will take place in Norilsk from September 28 to 30. Participants will discuss the specifics of implementing mining and metallurgical projects in the Arctic, modern approaches to industrial construction, and key challenges facing the industry.

Top executives and experts from Russia’s leading engineering and construction-installation companies, specializing in the design and construction of industrial facilities, will travel to Norilsk for the event, according to the sgnorilsk web portal.

The first Arctic Construction Forum, held in 2025, brought together over 100 executives and representatives from more than 35 specialized organizations. The event demonstrated the effectiveness of direct dialogue between the company and the contractor market, and enabled participants to discuss management and technological solutions for major projects undertaken by Nornickel’s Polar Division.

"The forum’s objective remains the same: to attract the country’s top engineering and construction firms to Nornickel’s large-scale projects. However, we now want to move beyond a mere exchange of experience toward deeper collaboration, and introduce partners to the company’s values and align them with our plans and strategic vision," said Andrey Manukyan, director of Nornickel’s investment project efficiency department.

According to him, working in the Arctic demands a unique level of responsibility and precision.

"Construction in the Polar region allows no room for a perfunctory approach; every site is unique, and the cost of error is exceptionally high. That is why it is crucial to operate within a shared framework of technology and values. I am confident that this annual forum will help establish a new standard of partnership in industrial construction," Manukyan emphasized.
