The only prominent summer-time action with Chopard’s participation was its support rendered to the annually held traditional ball in Elton John’s and David Furnish’s country estate. The participants of the 10th White Tie and Tiara Ball included jewelry company co-president Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, singer Nathalie Imbruglia, actress Elizabeth Hurley, and model Naomi Campbell.
Cartier seized leadership as the company most often mentioned in the press.
The traditional Love Day organized by Cartier for the third year running was celebrated to launch another Love line jewelry series 10% of whose sales will benefit charity organizations participating in the program. This year, the festival was kicked off in Los Angeles led by Love Charity ambassadors (Ashanti, Fergie, Janet Jackson, Hilary Duff, Good Charlotte and others) who displayed their Love bracelets to the public. The newly designed bracelet includes a silk cord with two coupled charms (in white and pink gold) graced with the word Love. The bracelets are available for $995 nationwide with $200 per bracelet benefiting its corresponding charity. A day later the festival moved to New York landing on top of the Empire State Building, where singer Rihanna flaunting a Cartier diadem turned on red lights in honor of the Love Day.
The company was also most often mentioned in press articles dedicated to celebrities since its rings were on repeated occasions given as gifts to stars. It is noteworthy there was nary an engagement ring or wedding band among them. One of the Cartier rings worth $22,000 was presented to Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan for her birthday by her girl-friend Samantha Ronson (tabloids presume this present meant something more than just friendship).
According to mass media, after Nicole Kidman gave birth to her kid she got a Cartier-made Trinity ring worth $73,000 from her husband Keith Urban. It is made of three intertwined rings – one diamond-dusted ring in yellow gold for friendship, the other in pink gold with diamonds for love and the third one in white gold with diamonds for fidelity (on the Russian jewelry market this type of rings irrespective of manufacturers has a general name of “cartier”).
Italian company Damiani decided on American cinema actress Sharon Stone as the brand’s new face.
The brand has officially presented its new advertising campaign during a press event in a newly opened Damiani store in Beverly Hills on June 19. The event was attended by the press, Sharon Stone and Silvia Damiani, third generation family member, as well as by Antonio Pavan, President of Damiani USA.
The guests were introduced by Silvia Damiani to the new campaign, whereas images of Sharon Stone were revealed on large plasma screens.
The Damiani campaign includes emblematic images inspired by Eve, American pilot and feminist Amelia Earhart, and today’s modern woman, who is described as “unique and as strong as the ‘every’ woman.”
Famous photographer Sølve Sundsbø shot Sharon Stone for the campaign wearing jewelry pieces from the most well-known collections of Damiani.
Damiani’s new boutique on Rodeo Drive – an exclusive territory for luxury goods and brands of fashion clothing in Beverly Hills – is the fourth in the United States. The company manufactures and sells top-class and fashion jewelry and has 56 sale outlets across Italy and abroad. The new store will be mono-branded.
JCKOnline reminds of one of the most flamboyant advertising campaigns in 2008. London-based jeweler Stephen Webster has called in long time friend, and five-time Grammy winner, Christina Aguilera as the face of his new advertising campaign which began running in April. In Webster’s first international advertising campaign Aguilera is featured wearing the new collection of rings, cuffs, pendants and earrings that have gemstones such as jade, chalcedony, goldstone, hematite, and white agate.
The inspiration for the campaign, envisaged and developed by Webster, stems from the legendary producer and director Alfred Hitchcock’s films. Hitchcock, known for his ability to blend suspense, sex and humor, motivated Webster to transform Aguilera into the classic Hitchcock heroine.
Depicting the common Hitchcock tenor of fear and fantasy, the photographer Vincent Peters, stylist Victoria Adcock, and hair and make-up artists Peter Savic and Kristofer Buckle, worked with Webster and Aguilera to create Hitchcock’s beauty and danger in the both color and black and white campaign.
