Svetlana Ivchenko, Director of the Sustainability Department at Norilsk Nickel, spoke about the contribution of the company's metals to decarbonization and shared details about the development in this direction. Among other things, she reported on the independent assessment of all Norilsk Nickel mines according to the IRMA standard, on the company's work to improve energy efficiency and reduce diesel fuel consumption, on the implementation of the concept proposed by the TCFD standards for managing climate change risks, and on the deployment of a unique system to monitor foundations of buildings and structures located on permafrost soils and on the development of three climate change scenarios.
Svetlana Ivchenko stressed that the share of renewable energy is increasing every year, and the carbon footprint of Norilsk Nickel's products is one of the lowest in the global industry.
Igor Larichev, Deputy Director of the Federal and Regional Programs Department at Norilsk Nickel, presented the company's digital practices and online services aimed at improving the efficiency of management and production processes, as well as improving the quality of life in the regions where it operates. He highlighted each project separately, talking, in particular, about the FOCL initiative focused on laying of a 1000 km fiber-optic communication line, thanks to which 180,000 Norilsk residents and 20,000 Dudinka residents received access to high-speed Internet, about the Digital Investor program within which company employees become beneficiaries of business with the help of digital financial assets, as well as the Smart City project aimed at creating a digital platform for residents of Norilsk and Monchegorsk, through which residents can use telemedicine, distance education, see posters and city news.
Igor Larichev also highlighted the company's initiatives in the field of medicine, the program to support the indigenous peoples of Taimyr and the digitalization of production.
