ODC set to receive Rapaport Green Star certification

20 june 2023
Polished diamonds procured from Okavango Diamond Company, which undergo analysis by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and receive a GIA Diamond Origin Report (DOR), will soon be granted Rapaport Green Star certification, and be designated on RapNet, an official has said.
“The modern diamond consumer is increasingly discerning, with both industry professionals and end consumers seeking to know the origin of the diamonds they handle, purchase, or wear," said ODC managing director Mmetla Masire.

“Given this growing demand, we are  thrilled to bolster our existing proof of origin endorsements by incorporating an additional layer.”
He said by leveraging the GIA’s Diamond Origin Report Service, alongside ODC’s commitment to ethical sourcing, they can provide further assurances to our customers.

“Moreover, the inclusion of Green Star certificates for polished diamonds, as agreed upon with Rapaport, will reinforce the value and integrity of our natural diamonds, potentially leading to price premiums for our products in the marketplace,” said Masire.

“All this helps us to make a bigger social and economic impact on our shareholders and beneficiaries, which [are] the people of Botswana.”
ODC’s diamonds are ethically mined and sourced from Debswana through the Diamond Trading Company Botswana.
