Norilsk Nickel and VK agreed to cooperate in the development of information technologies for the industry

19 june 2023
Norilsk Nickel and VK signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of IT solutions for the metallurgical business.
The document, signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, provides for the cooperation in cloud computing and IT infrastructure virtualization, the development of multifunctional platforms and portals, tools for managing the big data and artificial intelligence technologies. The agreement was signed by Dmitry Pristanskov, State Secretary, Vice President for Relations with Authorities and Management of the Mining and Metallurgical Company, and Pavel Gontarev, CEO of VK Tech.

A separate vector of Norilsk Nickel’s partnership with VK is working with services for the interaction of employees of a metallurgical company, as well as for secure corporate communications and career development. The companies plan to develop IoT (Internet of Things) technologies and industry-specific geoinformation services.

“Digitalization for the metallurgical industry and Norilsk Nickel, in particular, has long been an integral part of the key business processes. A huge number of operations have been digitalized at Norilsk Nickel, from office work to planning the mining operations and metallurgical processing, logistics and sales. After the departure of foreign IT solution providers, we have rebuilt our digital landscape and keep on working actively in this direction. There are many examples of technological leadership in Russia in various fields. Norilsk Nickel is open to cooperation and joint projects with other companies. I am sure that by pooling resources and capabilities, we will be able to strengthen and consolidate this leadership,” commented Dmitry Pristanskov.

“Based on our own development and the services of local partners, we create solutions that help businesses rebuild and develop entire industries. We believe that our technological solutions can be the basis of the industry platforms that create the basis for partnerships between industry players. I am sure that together with Norilsk Nickel we will be able to create the best practices in the field of using the technologies for the development of the industry,” commented Pavel Gontarev, CEO of VK Tech.
